Cuprinol Shed and Fence Protector is a solvent based wood protective treatment that offers high protection but also colours exterior wood, such as garden sheds, fences and other exterior wood. The protector waterproofs wooden surfaces and protects from weathering.  It's formula is designed to absorb deep into the wood for outstanding protection and is suitable for both smooth and rough sawn timber.

How To Use Cuprinol Shed and Fence Protector

In preparation make sure that the wood is clean, dry and free from any surface dust or potential contaminants.  Use a stiff brush on the surface to remove any ingrained dirt.  If there is any mould, mildew, algae or fungal growth present then this should be removed with a suitable cleaner.  Where wood has greyed from weathering and UV damage, it can be returned to its original colour with a wood reviver.  If more comprehensive protection is required then apply a preservative to protect against fungal growth and wood boring insects.  If the wood has a pre-existing coating, such as paint or varnish then this will need to be sanded back to bare wood or a suitable remover used.

Shake the tin well both before and during the application process to ensure an even colour.

The porosity and original colour of the wood can be a factor in the final colour achieved, so it is good practice to do a test patch first.  Apply 2-3 even coats by brush with the second coat being applied after the first has soaked in.  Allow 2-5 days drying time depending on the ambient temperature and the nature of the wood.  To maintain, if water no longer beads on the surface then a top up coat can be applied
