Liberon Palette Wood Dye
Same Day Despatch : Order by 4:30pm Mon-Fri: Delivery & Returns
Use Liberon Palette Wood Dye for dyeing and staining all types of interior bare woodwork, whilst keeping the natural beauty of the grain visible. Suitable for both soft and hardwood, Liberon Palette Wood Stain achieves quick and uniform results on large or small surfaces such as furniture, floors, beams, doors, cupboards, frames and toys. Different colours can be intermixed to obtain a specific shade. The darker shades of the dye are often used as a base before using liming wax as this will enhance the contrast of the white graining. If using on a new joinery or cabinet project ensure that all traces of glue or adhesive is removed from the surface as the Palette wood dye will not cover or absorb into these areas.
Use Palette Wood Dye White to tone down the Orange colour of Pine once sanded, this must be sealed with a varnish such as Liberon Natural Finish Floor Varnish when thoroughly dry. See our bog for more details on how to lighten to prevent orange Pine.
Shake well before use. If more than one tin is needed, mix them together to ensure a uniform finish. Using a brush or foam applicator, apply the dye reasonably quickly in the direction of the grain and wipe away any excess with a clean cotton rag. If a deeper colour is required, a second coat can be applied after 2 hours.
Once dry, Liberon Palette Wood Dye must be over-coated with a suitable wood oil, wax or varnish.
Colours: Antique Pine, Medium Oak, Dark Oak, Ebony, Georgian Mahogany, Golden Pine, Light Oak, Teak, Tudor Oak, Victorian Mahogany, Walnut, White, Yew
* The type of wood will have a bearing on the final result, (see the colour swatch which shows the difference between staining Oak and Pine) always do a test patch first to establish the colour you will achieve.
Precautions:
- Do not mix a water based dye with a spirit based dye.
- Wear gloves to avoid skin staining.
- Caution must be taken when using water based finishes over Liberon Palette Wood Dye. Keep brush strokes to a minimum as over brushing may lift out the colour.
