Barrettine Creosolve 4 litre has been developed as a safer and more environmentally friendly alternative to traditionally used Creosote. It has similar water repellence characteristics to Creosote but does not contain biocide or preserver. Creosolve is a highly effective oil based bitumen and wax timber treatment for the protection of external timber. It absorbs deep into the wood and is ideal for fences, sheds and posts and on rough, sawn or smooth timber. It will repel water and prevent the timber from swelling, twisting or cracking.
Please note that this product is not suitable for decking or garden furniture.
Available in light or dark brown, Barrettine Creosolve is applied exactly the same as the original and has a similar smell which will be familiar to traditional Creosote users.
To apply, first ensure the wood is dry, clean and free of any paint or varnish that would inhibit the absorption of the Creosolve. If using more than one container it is good practice to mix the containers together to ensure a uniform colour. It can be applied either by brush or sprayer and 2 coats will be needed for the best protection. Alternatively, the timber can be dipped for 20 minutes. Drying time is 24 to 48 hours and tools can be cleaned with White Spirit.
For additional protection from wood boring insects, rot, mould and algae, the wood can be pre-treated with Barrettine Premier Universal Preserver.
